Highlights of the Rajasthan Budget 2018-19

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje presented her last and full budget 2018-19 in the state assembly months ahead of the Assembly elections. Vasundhara Raje made several big announcements in what was like a “please all” budget. Rajasthan Budget 2018-19 especially targeted farmers loan, poor and women.

Child Care Leave: In a kind gesture to government women employees, Vasundhara Raje announced 2-years “Child Care Leave”.

Teaching Jobs: Vasundhara Raje said as many as 9000 “second-grade” teachers will be appointed, Also as many as 54,000 “third-grade” teachers to be an appointed in Schools of Rajasthan.

Reward for Kamlesh Nagarkoti: Raje announces Rs 25 lakh cash reward for India’s U-19 World Cup cricket player Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He has been awarded this for excellent performance in the recently concluded World Cup 2018 which India won.

Annapurna Bhandar and Rasoi: Vasundhara Raje said 1000 new Annapurna Bhandar will open in various cities of Rajasthan. She said there will be an Annapurna Rasoi in every district collector office. By March 2018, all 500 Annapurna Rasoi Vans would become operational.

Youth Icon Scheme: To promote sporting talents of the Rajasthan state youth, Raje announced ‘Youth Icon Scheme’ in Rajasthan.

Health Care: Raje also announced to start 28 new public health centers in the various cities of Rajasthan.

For Anganwadi workers: Vasundhara Raje announced to increase the honorarium of Anganwadi workers and other Honorarium workers. The decision will benefit around 1 lakh 84 thousand Anganwadi workers and honorarium workers.

Benefit for Elderly Residents of Rajasthan: In this budget raje announced free bus travel to people above 80 years of age.

Farm Loan Wavier: One-time loan waiver of up to Rs 50,000 for small and marginal farmers in Rajasthan. The loan waiver would cost Rs 8,000 crore to the exchequer. Raje also announced setting up a farmer loan relief commission where farmers can approach and present their case to get relief on merit basis. 

Gram Rajasthan: Vasundhara government has directly communicated with over 2 lakh farmers under the ‘Gram Rajasthan’ programme.

Camel Milk: Chief Minister Vasundhara announced to set up a mini plant for processing an distribution of camel milk Jaipur.

Raje announced to spend Rs 6,000 for connecting the Bilaspur dam with Banas river.

For Media Persons: Raje announced interest-free loans of Rs 25 lakh to journalists. She also announces Camera Insurance scheme for photojournalists and video journalists.

Jobs: Raje said as many as 2000 new Patwaris will be appointed in the state.

Women Empowerment: 2000 girl students to get scooties each if they score 85% marks in class 12 board examination. Raje also said money provided to Adarsh Schools will be increased. Raje further said new training programmes for women will be started in 14 ITIs.

Raje said primary school children will get milk on three days in a week.

RPSC examinees will get free bus travel service in state government’s buses.

The budget proposed an employment subsidy of Rs. 5,000 to industries giving priority to bona fide residents of Rajasthan. The subsidy was increased to Rs. 45,000 and Rs. 40,000 for providing employment to bona fide residents by the established enterprises in backward and most backward areas.
